Slí Cholmcille (Colmcille’s Way) will be the central concept in a programme raising awareness of the shared Gaelic heritage of Ireland and Scotland. Sites associated with or dedicated to Saint Colum Cille, will provide a key template for the programme. The trail will link people and places through heritage routes and trails. In each country the trail and associated programmes will also link Gaelic speech communities in Ireland and Scotland, and be accessible to others interested in Gaelic culture.
The development of this programme is informed by a number of conferences and seminars held by Colmcille, but particularly by Slí Cholmcille 2006, a conference held in Belfast Castle in March 2006.
