The prizewinners for the Saol na nGael photography competition were announced at a ceremony in Derry on Friday 3rd November and Monica Ní Fhlathárta from County Galway scooped the first prize of £2,000 with her photograph entitled ‘Aifreann ar oileán’ or ‘Island Mass’.
The other prize winners were: Colin Campbell, Inverclyde and Ewan Berry from County Donegal. Winners in the Under 16 section were Olivia Maguire from Co Donegal in 1st place and Lisa Morrison from the Isle of Lewis in 2nd place.
The competition was aimed at promoting the shared heritage of the Gaels and asked people to capture an aspect of Gaelic life in an urban or rural setting in Scotland, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, and offered prizes of a total value of £4,000.
