At community level, festivals are one sure way of bringing people together from diverse backgrounds to celebrate in music and culture. Since its inception, Colmcille has been supporting and funding festivals of all shade and hue.
One example of a community festival supported by Colmcille is Féile Chóilín Sheáin Dara. This has pioneered panel debate in Scottish and Irish Gaelic, with Gàidhlig ann an Èìrinn; it has brought Gaelic bands such as the Pneumatic Drills to Conamara. The Lewis group Face the West has brought Gaelic song and contact with Gaelic communities of Scotland to Tory island. Other festivals include Ceòlas; the William Kennedy International Piping Festival; Ceòl Nis; Fèis nan Òran; Ceòl na Mara; Féile Chomórtha Joe Éinniú; Féile an Phíobaire/Rathlin Airs; Córacha la Chéile’; Feile an Earagail; Éigse na nGlinntí; Bláthanna; Féile Reachrann; Ó Bhéal go Béal Feirste and Féile Gort a’ Choirc.
